Now that I have worked with Holly to heal my relationship with money, I feel more confident in my abilities to address my debt and get in a better spot financially. Before I took the plunge to do this program, I found myself holding my breath all the time and not even realizing why I felt so uptight. I had no idea what steps to take to get out of debt and felt really overwhelmed and very uneasy.
Holly answered all my questions and gave me some tools to track my spending and plan for the future. I now have a clear roadmap and feel more accountable to keeping up with my spending and my progress in paying down the debt. I am no longer anxious or worried about getting out from under this weight! I am not ignoring the problem, I am doing something about it, which sounds silly but makes such a difference in your attitude and how you view yourself.
It’s going really well, I have been able to pay down about 20% of my debt in the 6 months since I started working with Holly (without changing my income, just by being more aware and targeted with my approach). She excels in verbalizing how to break things down and make it manageable. When looking at the cost of the program, I justified it by looking at how much I was spending on personal training over the last year (now I know what to do in the gym without needing a trainer to hold my hand!)… this was a whole lot more affordable and financial health is just as important as physical health.
I think everyone deserves to have a plan of action and Holly does a fantastic job of listening to your concerns and developing a plan tailored to your needs and situation. It’s really been a breeze! I don’t feel like I am deprived or unable to do fun things with my money, but I am also making great strides in getting financially free! It’s a wonderful feeling. Holly gave a fantastic presentation about budgeting and financial literacy to youth in our Unaccompanied Refugee Minor program. Her talk was engaging and informative, and I think it was highly beneficial for the youth to hear such important information coming from someone who is a professional in the field.
Some of the youth in attendance have struggled with financial management in the past; others are brand new to the country, and are unfamiliar with the concepts of credit vs. debit cards, credit scores, and interest. Holly’s presentation was extremely useful for all of these youth. Holly provided examples from her own life to highlight the concepts she was talking about, and was very accommodating of the interpreters who were there to assist the newly arrived youth.

We were so lucky to have Holly Morphew talk to our 9th graders at DSST Byers HS on the topic of finances and what they can do ‘now’ to be successful with their money. She was able to give them ‘real life examples’ on smart spending while incorporating concepts in like compound interest, credit and interest rates, as well as practical tips on spending/saving.
After her presentation, my son said to me, “Wow Mom, I never thought about saving some of my money from my summer job, but now I think I am going to save 20% like Holly suggested.”
I loved how Holly was able to talk with our 9th grade class, she was confident and ABLE to effectively communicate with these 15 year olds. I loved how she was able to give them ‘real life examples; such as when we go grocery shopping, why the items at our eye level cost more than the items on the bottom shelf….always shop smart- LOOK around!! She also, taught them about ‘convenient shopping’ – why the same things cost more at Walgreens vs your local grocery store. Or lastly, the point about earnings and how it really relates to your own personal financial needs.
Holly was super professional, confident, and able to engage our 9th grade class because what she was saying ‘really caught their attention’ and was age appropriate. Every school should have her come and speak. I honestly believe these kids are one step ahead on financial success and I really think her suggestions will benefit them for life.
